~2018 Pool Staff~

Mr. Miller, Pool Manager (11th year)

I am a true Wyoming native, born and raised in Laramie, Wyoming.

I am currently completing my 19th year as a Business Teacher at Cheyenne Central High School.  I am the Head Coach for the Cheyenne Central High School Girls & Boys Swimming teams, and the Head Coach and Director of the Cheyenne Swim Club (a local, year-round “age-group” competitive swimming program).  I have also been a volunteer for the "Contract Acts Committee" with Cheyenne Frontier Days for the past 8 years.  My certifications include:  Certified Pool Operator (CPO), Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), CPR & First Aid, and USA Swimming Coach (26 years).

I spent the previous seven years as the Head Swimming Coach for the University of Wyoming Menand Women teams.  I swam competitively for the University of Wyoming from 1985-88 and was a seven-time Western Athletic Conference Champion.  I previously held school records in the 100 Breaststroke (54.43) and 200 Breaststroke (1:57.72), and I still hold records in the 200 IM (1:47.38), 400 IM (3:52.11), and as a member of the 800 Freestyle Relay.  My senior year at the NCAA Division I Championships, I led Wyoming to an 18th place finish as a team – the highest finish ever in school history – by placing second in the 200 Breaststroke, 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke, and 5th in the 200 Individual Medley.  I was twice named the Western Athletic Conference "Swimmer of the Year" and hold the title as the "Athlete of the Decade" (80's) for the University of Wyoming.  I competed in the 1988 Olympic Trials, where I placed 14th in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke and 15th in the 200 Individual Medley.

Currently, I am the ONLY male swimmer who has been inducted into the University of Wyoming Athletics Hall of Fame (Class of 1996).  In 2004, I was inducted into the Wyoming Sports Hall of Fame.  I have been twiced named the WHSAA 4A Girl's Swimming Coach of the Year by the Wyoming Coaches Association (2003, 2009 & 2013).   In 2013, I was named the WHSAA and 4A Boy's Coach of the year--Central won their first State Championship in 32 years!

In 2014, I was nominated for the National High School Coach of the Year--where was a FINALIST (Top 8 high school swim coaches in the USA) for National Coach of the Year.

I feel that my 43 years of competitive swimming experience in and around the community of Cheyenne will be an asset to the development of the Cheyenne Country Club.  I am looking forward to servicing our members through aquatics again this summer.

Kiesa Geyer--Assistant Pool Manager, Assistant Swim Team (4th year)

This is Kies's fourth year with the Country Club Pool--she brings invaluable experience as a teacher and swim coach at McCormick Junior High for the past 19 years.  She is a graduate of the University of Wyoming & Laramie High School--where she swam for four years and was a letter winner.  We are excited to add Kiesa's knowledge and experience in swimming to our staff.
